The implications of “universal” health care require that we, hardworking Americans, cover medical costs incurred by anyone for any reason. We should not be forced to pay for an individuals irresponsibility or lack of discretion. While health care reform should be considered, socialization is not an option.

Medicare, social security, bailouts, unemployment insurance…the silent sedatives of our culture. As conservatives it is our responsibility to prevent this society from crippling itself through a vicious cycle of government dependence.

Health care is a huge issue currently and therefore, there are many angles, many bias, and many proposed solutions. One such solution takes on the lack of competition in the insurance industry. The idea is that perhaps, if insurance competition was allowed outside of state lines, it would better serve the people with better coverage for lower rates.

Environmental responsibility is bigger than the debate about the actuality of ‘global warming’. Its important to be good stewards of something as incredible and beautiful as the earth we live on. People will always be more important than any environmental ideals, but eco-consideration is better for everyone in the long run.

With the many proposed solutions to the nation’s health care debacle, some have the misconception that there are solutions that allow people to have ‘free health care’. For whatever reason they choose to believe this, the fact is that a government program that supposedly doesn’t incur costs, doesn’t exist in reality. Free health care incurs debt which is paid for by everyone, including future generations.

With the constant bombardment of information on how you should think, dress, and act, its important to realize who is behind these messages. While both sides of the spectrum have their moments of extreme bias, its unfortunate that the majority of mass media is run by the left. It makes it that much harder to get straight to the facts to formulate an informed personal opinion.

Even though we have some of the best treatment options in the world, its easy to see that the health care system here is broken. Just look around at the middle class citizens who can’t afford to get sick and its hard to deny that something needs to be fixed. There are many ideas about how to fix this problem but one thing is for certain: passing the financial burden on to future generations and people who earn more is not a responsible solution.

Amid the torrent of excessive government spending in the form of auto industry bailouts, bank bailouts, and broken government programs, its important its important for people and companies to assume a higher level of financial responsibility. Government money is never free, and for the loyal taxpayer the ROI is terrible.
